„Bientraitance aims at a positive and respectful attitude towards others and oneself, thanks to a culture of appreciation, mutual trust, help and support“

Bientraitance is an initiative of 4 organisations with a common vision, launched in 2014. Currently, the initiative includes 7 social actors from the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg : Arcus asbl, Caritas Luxembourg, la Croix-Rouge luxembourgeoise, Elisabeth, Jaques Brocquart asbl, Lënster Päiperlék asbl et la Fondation Lëtzebuerger Kannerduerf.

With this disposition, the following points were taken up:

  • A compulsory awareness training to address and prevent maltreatment for all current and future employees of the participating organisations. To strengthen the skills of each worker to cope with situations of abuse in their daily work.
  • Vigilance, transparency and confidentiality are the three guiding principles underlying both prevention and the promotion of good treatment.
  • The provision of bientraitance representatives/delegates. Their role is to promote appreciation, prevent abuse, inform and advise on these issues.

Bientraitance is also to make someone smile, to be empathetic, to be patient, to listen, and not to be judgemental.
